The bookmobile has been delivered to the company that will outfit the interior of the vehicle, which is a Ford 450 box truck.
They will add a side door, shelves, wiring, flooring, computers, a lift for people with mobility issues, and an exterior awning.
Meanwhile, library staff members will plan bookmobile schedules and routes and order books and media for the bookmobile’s initial collection.
In addition, library staff, FPLF members, and library trustees will be working with a graphic designer to design the exterior finish of the vehicle. The vehicle will then go to a graphics or signage company that can execute the design.
We anticipate that the bookmobile will begin service in Framingham next April.
