Dozens of residents and dignitaries from both the city and state level gathered in front of the Memorial Building in downtown Framingham on April 9, 2019 to celebrate the debut of the Framingham Public Library’s new bookmobile, its first one in decades.

The Framingham Publication Library Foundation, thanks to the generous donations of several hundred individuals and organizations, was able to raise $150K to fund the purchase of the bookmobile. It will help the library bring its many resources to after-school programs, homebound individuals, senior citizen centers, low-income neighborhoods, English language learners, and social service agencies.

After the ribbon cutting by Mayor Yvonne Spicer and brief remarks by officials, there was a reception and refreshments, compliments of Dunkin’ Donuts and Wegman’s, inside the Memorial Building in Nevins Hall.

After the celebration, the bookmobile made its first rounds in Framingham, with featured stops at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Brookdale Cushing Park, Carmel Terrace Assisted Living, and the Framingham YMCA.
